That’s it! |
The heart of the Slip Flap unit is the pressure-engineered torsion spring. This torsion spring is designed to hold the bar in place so the posts holding the flap remain in a horizontal position. The close tolerance of the cover maintains the mud flap securely on the posts. The unit will hold the flap in place in any driving conditions. When the flap encounters significant pressure, which would only happen when the flap is caught between the tire and the ground or another object, the bar will rotate in a downward direction. This allows the flap to release, falling undamaged to the ground. When the flap releases, the spring snaps the bar back into its original position, allowing the flap to be re-installed. The spring requires no maintenance and will function as designed every time, releasing the flap just before there is any damage to the flap, the bracket or the Slip Flap unit.
